I didn’t go into a ton of information about dining options at Aulani on our post over here because we were covering more of the storytelling side of the resort. So today I wanted to cover some of the options for dining at Aulani.
Table Service options:
‘Ama’Ama which is an open-air beachside restaurant that uses fresh ingredients to bring great island flavors and amazing dishes. ‘Ama’Ama serves breakfast lunch and dinner all with complimentary ocean views. My favorite was the Kālua-roasted pulled pork sandwich in steamed rice buns, they are served at lunch!
Makahiki is named for the Makahiki season, the traditional Hawaiian celebration of the harvest. Breakfast and dinner are served here buffet style. Breakfast is Aunties Breakfast Celebration and features some favorite characters as well as music and a lot of fun. The casual dinner buffet features fresh local products and chef-inspired dishes. Options may include:
- Sustainable seafood
- Rotating carving stations
- Asian-inspired entrées
- Pasta with chicken
- Crisp salads made with local greens
- Fresh island fruits
- House-made desserts
- Hawaiian inspired beverages
Quick Service Options
Ulu Cafe offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Don’t let the title of quick service fool you there are some really great options here. My favorite is the BBQ flatbread.
Menu options change daily, but might include:
- Breakfast favorites, like eggs, fresh fruit, bagels, croissants and cereals
- Hot lunch and dinner options, from flatbreads and sandwiches to sustainable fish and seasonal vegetables
- Grab-and-go selections available all day, like salads, sandwiches, wraps, chips and fresh fruit
- Pizzas, made to order from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (hours subject to change)
- Specialty desserts and milkshakes
The Olelo room, which we talked about in detail here, offers night time entertainment as well as drinks and “appetizers” which are large enough to be a dinner. There is also a special sunset menu with specially priced small plates and beverages, offered from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM nightly. One of the favorites here is the kālua pork nachos. Be sure to ask about the ‘Ike Mua—the discovery drink of the day!
Note: Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Off The Hook is another poolside lounge/bar type that serves lunch items as well as large appetizers which can serve as dinner. During the day, enjoy popular poolside selections like burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and appetizers. As the sun sets, savor island-inspired appetizers that complement Off the Hook’s tropical cocktails and featured local beers. The burger was great here.
Wailana Pool bar is a relaxing adult-only spot where you can satisfy your appetite with local, Hawaiian cuisine and familiar favorites like pizza, wraps, burgers, and salad. A full bar offers an array of refreshing options—including specialty cocktails, wine, beer, sodas, tea and more.
Mama’s Snack Shop is a walk-up type place where you can grab quick items like mouthwatering hot dogs, chicken tenders, coconut-breaded shrimp and more.
Right next to Mama’s Snack Shop you will find Pāpālua Shave Ice, this is a great spot to cool off while hanging out by the pool.
Little Opihi’s is a little beach side eatery which offerssnacks, light meals, assorted beverages, and refreshing cocktails. While subject to change, menu options might include:
- Snacks: Chips, fresh fruit, and ice cream
- Light Meals: Sandwiches and salads
- Beverages: Soft drinks, bottled water, beer, wine, and cocktails
So that wraps up some of our favorite spots for dining at Aulani, but if for whatever reason you haven’t found anything here that you think would be a good option for you there are some great options right across the street from Aulani, one of which is Monkey Pod which we will cover in another blog.
